PokerStars Big Game
The initial run of the PokerStars Big Game has come to an end, but more episodes are only a few weeks away. Week 6 featured another limp Loose Cannon, but the high-octane pros provided more than enough excitement. Undoubtedly the centre of attention was one Phil Hellmuth. The Poker Brat did everything possible to live up to his nickname, producing riveting entertainment in the process. The target of his vitriol was online sensation Dan “Ansky” Stern, who had Hellmuth totally on tilt. His antics are undoubtedly the most watchable of any of the download free poker sponsored players.
In the early going, the the cameras focussed on the Loose Cannon, Andre Capella. His tight calling style failed to invigorate the table or his chipstack and it would only take 88 hands to see him ousted from the Big Game. Like all Loose Cannons, he qualified by winning a free tournament on the PokerStars Download. The former racing car driver showed some signs of life early on, but had the wind thoroughly knocked from him by a Phil Hellmuth suckout. Holding J-J against the poker brat’s J-8, he saw a blank flop, followed by runner-runner eights. Had Phil been the recipient of such a beat, the whole studio would have erupted, but he was perfectly happy to be raking the chips. Perhaps the Poker Brat needs to spend more time with a hand converter.
Capella’s stack never recovered from this mauling. In his final hand, he once again got a bad slice of luck, this time against Dani Stern. He needed some cold hard poker tells to help him out, but they weren’t forthcoming. His K-Q hit top pair on a board of K-6-4, as did Stern with K-10. His fate was sealed by a 10 on the turn and an all-in call, which resulted in Stern collected the entirety of Capella’s stack. Even though they ran it twice, there was no river reprieve for the Loose Cannon. He’ll was sent on his way, back to grinding PokerStars Bonus Code offers.
Stern turned out to be the big winner from Week 6, much to Phil Hellmuth’s chagrin. After losing with the best starting hand in a couple of big pots, Phil had enough and began trash-talking in his own inimitable style. A veteran of best US poker sites chat wars, Stern responded in kind and the two traded insults for a lengthy period of time. It didn’t last for the whole session, with Hellmuth offer to buy Stern a conciliatory bottle of Dom Perignon. As the week was winding down, Big Game host Amanda Leatherman brought on a surprise bottle of the fine champagne for Hellmuth to award to Stern as an apology. As the credits rolled, the pair appeared to be patching up their differences.
Proprietor of Daniels Room Poker and PokerStars talisman Daniel Negreanu was also on hand to stoke the fires of Hellmuth’s tilt. At one point Phil asked Daniel, “What have you ever done in holdem?” to which to the witty Canadian replied, “not that much.” It should be noted that Negreanu has the second highest career winnings total in live tournaments in the history of the game.
